Growing up in Alaska, I assumed that when people said they liked hot weather, they didnt actually mean hot weather--I mean, who could like hot weather? Its self-evidently undesirable, like gangrene, or maggots, or dandruff--but, you know, glamour, sophistication, style, and all those other sorts of things youre more likely to find in LA than in Juneau. But after a couple of decades of witnessing people actually looking happy in the midst of actual hot weather, I have come to realize that, impossible as it is to imagine myself into that state of mind, it appears to be factually true that people like hot weather. So my next project is to come to believe that people are not lying when they claim to be sad over the death of a celebrity.
