Guardiola: Gotze is good but Messi is the best ever. He may be one of the best in Germany but the 21-year-old attacker is not quite at the same level as the Barcelona star, according to the Bayern Munich coach. Pep Guardiola says Bayern Munich attacker Mario Gotze has still some way to go before comparisons can be drawn between him and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi. Gotze has caught the eye with impressive performances for Bayern this season following his €37 million switch to the Bavarians in the summer from Borussia Dortmund. However, the 21-year-olds coach, Guardiola, is cautious of expecting too much from his young star and insists he is not at the same level as the four-time Ballon dOr winner yet. There are no comparisons between him and Messi. Messi is the best player in history, the Spaniard told.
