Gujarat Model of Development : Dafuq. Who is developing? The people or the expedient businessmen who are not even contributing an iota to our countrys growth. Arvind Kejriwals questions to Modi clearly brings out many truths about Gujarat. In the beginning, like many innocent people, I too thought there was development in Gujarat. But it dint take me more than a day to research about Gujarat and realize that Modis claims are reminiscent of Joseph Goebbels(Hitlers propaganda minister) propaganda. To start with, Gujarat is an already thriving state with diamond traders,silk merchants and well-developed ports contributing to its growth.If you clearly look at the economic data of Gujarat from independence, you can understand that there isnt any large development in its growth(compared to other states likewise).And since a whole lots of industrialists from Ambanis to Tatas to Wadias are from that state, it is natural that they are investing back in their state.And all these could have happened under any CM. The only notable thing he did was wearing business suits (atypical of other politicians) and wooing investors with the promise of hefty profits that has resulted in crony capitalism. Remember any CM can do such things but these are detrimental to our countrys long term growth where we lose our resources and freedom to such firms. And none of his pet firms are investing in technology or contributing to our countrys growth. They are hardcore money-spinning businesses where there is no sustained growth and lower class people stand to lose heavily. Such things have taken a toll on Gujarats fiscal deficit.It has grown to become one of the biggest borrowers among states and state debt has more than tripled under Modi. All these for the luxury of the corporate at the expense of taxpayers money. I am an advocate of free markets but not crony capitalism.All people should get equal rights to develop technologies and indulge in business. But what has happened? Only Adanis and Ambanis flourished and Gujarati people are lost in pride that they support Modi and are losing to our corrupt system. If you think that there is corruption only in govt, God save India. Corruption in private sector is another burgeoning problem that must be addressed. ~ Shared by Vetri Venthan
