HAN wishes to share some of the excitement with you, the media, and the public, of the HAN Tourism Awards Gala last night. The night ended in a festive spirit, after the 250 guests in the hall pledged a total of N$ 360 000 towards the latest initiative called for by Palmwag Concession: the Kunene Region Rhino Protection fundraising initiative. See details of this initiative in the image attached, as well as the full list of pledges made. The enthusiasm was started by Mr Wessie van der Westhuizen, MD of Namibia Breweries Limited, (main sponsor of the annual HAN Gala), pledging N$ 100 000 on behalf of NBL for this initiative, called by Palmwag Lodge, - who was this year awarded the title of Community/Conservation Joint Venture Lodge of the Year, by NACSO & HAN. An amazing atmosphere of unity and pride prevailed among guests at the Gala, celebrating the achievements of the year, - and the generosity of the industry, - when called for, - such as to help protect OUR environment. This years HAN Gala reached a special milestone, at which the entire tourism sector was united in sharing and awarding their successes. 1. ETEA, (Emerging Tourism Enterprise Association) - for the first time awarded one of its members for Service Excellence: Vulkan Ruine Shuttle Services 2. NACSO (Namibian Association for CBNRM Support Organisation) awarded the Conservation/JV Lodge of the Year: Palmwag Lodge, / Palmwag Concession 3. Eco Awards Alliance, awarding a record number of establishments and the first Tour Operator with Eco-assessment ratings. 4. HAN Awards of Excellence, - as voted for online, (hannamibia/awards) by the traveling guests to Namibia. 5. and finally, the Personalities of the year, 2014, - which happen to be all ladies: Hotelier of the Year 2014: Dorothea Daiber Safari Hotels HAN Personality of the Year 2014: Heidi Snyman, Hotel Schweizerhaus, founding member of HAN 27 years ago, and serving almost non-stop on the Executive committee HAN Tourism Personality of the Year: Ginger Mauney - the mastermind behind the most beautiful videos produced for Namibia Tourism Promotion over the past 2 years.
