HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!! UPDATE: Firefighters today continue full-suppression efforts on three wildfires in Lincoln and White Pine counties. Residents are asked to stay out of the fire areas. Public and firefighter safety is the top priority. In Lincoln County, the Billy Panagopoulos Type 3 Incident Management Team this morning took control of the 9,100-acre, lightning-ignited Middle Ridge Fire that is consuming pinion-juniper and sagebrush about 25 miles south-southeast of Caliente. The fire yesterday merged with the lightning-ignited Dots Fire and burned into Beaver Dam State Park, which remains closed to the public. The BLM is providing structure protection, as needed. The agency is being assisted by the Lincoln County Fire Protection District, Nevada Division of Forestry, Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands; and Forest Service. The approximately 1,000-acre Cottonwood Fire, about 15 miles southeast of Pioche, is burning in heavy pinion-juniper and sagebrush. Aerial resources are dropping retardant to protect historic mining structures in the fire area. In White Pine County, the approximately 3,500-acre Lages Fire, near Lages Junction about 60 miles north of Ely, is approximately 60-percent contained. Full containment is expected by Sunday evening, July 6. EVERYONE HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!!!
