HAVE A BOSSY LITTLE GIRL? YOU COULD HAVE A CEO IN THE MAKING..... Women have been socialized to be low key, polite, ladylike, and deferential--qualities which rarely correlate to leadership. I had similar behavioral characteristics growing up as author Cheryl Sandburg, I was a Tom-boy who instinctively demonstrated leadership and competitive characteristics. When I reached a profession and level where this should have been rewarded, I found the opposite. Women were routinely punished for identical behaviors to men. Men who took charge in a crisis were commanding, while women were viewed as pushy or bxxxxs. Sadly much of that feedback came from other women who resented, instead of celebrated, other womens successes. Nonetheless, things ARE changing if glacially slow. By the time your bossy girl graduates B school, maybe well have a few more female CEOs.
