WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE LAST DAYS’ FAITH Luke 18:1-8, ¶ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? I. FAITH BECOMES WEAK Causes: 1) Lack of prayers That’s why the Lord Jesus said in verse 1... “That men ought always to pray, and not to faint” Lack of prayer will make Christians faint. The Lord Jesus told His disciples also in Matthew 26:41... “ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. “ 2) Lack of practice The Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:17... “The just shall live by faith.” This means Christians must put into practice his faith. Faith, if not applied becomes inactive. 3) Lack of power What empowers our faith is the grace of God. When Paul had thorn in the flesh, he soon realized that what makes his faith strong is the grace of God. II. FAITH BECOMES WORLDLY Reasons: 1) Because of high technology The rise of technology has made the world more wicked. Wickedness creeps in into our homes and even Church because of televisions, cable networks and internet. PEOPLE SPEND MORE TIME IN TELEVISION THAN IN THEIR BIBLE . SO ARE THE KIDS TODAY. THE WEB IS THE WORST INSTRUMENT OF COMMUNICATION TODAY THAT BRINGS WORLDLINESS TO GOD’S PEOPLE. CELL PHONES TODAY ARE NOW CONNECTED TO THE WEB EVEN IF THERE IS NO WIFI. PEOPLE ARE TEXTING WHILE CROSSING THE STREET. WITHOUT BEING CONCERNED OF THE DANGER THAT AWAITS THEM. IN SOME COUNTRIES THEY HAVE NOW LAWS AND SIGNS OF PROHIBITION ON TEXTING IN PUBLIC PLACES. 2) Because of hollow theology Liberal preachers now are not preaching hard against sins. They do not preach on separation anymore. They compromise their message with people having itchy ears. 2Tim. 4:1-4, I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. III. FAITH BECOMES WARM-LESS 1) The Spirit is extinguished The Bible is saying to us in... 1Thess. 5:19, Quench not the Spirit. When He is quenched, our hearts become callous to listen to the Word of God; and it grieves the Holy Spirit. Our hearts become cold. Our worship becomes lifeless. Our spirituality becomes stagnant. Our testimony becomes dim. Our Christian life becomes miserable. 2) The self is enthroned 2Tim. 3:1-5, This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. WHEN... FAITH BECOMES WEAK FAITH BECOMES WORLDLY FAITH BECOMES WARM-LESS WHAT SHOULD BE THE SOLUTION WE MUST FOLLOW? GO BACK TO THE CROSS WHERE YOU ARE REDDEMED BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. GAL. 2:20. Gal. 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal. 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 16, And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
