HDB has told some of us to wait for two weeks for information but it seems that this is only a delay tactic. We are so disappointed at their announcement. They have disregarded the reasoning that religion should not be made used by commercial entities to make money. They have in fact set a very bad precedent for Singapores religious organizations. Religious organizations are non-profit organization subject to Charity Act. It is totally unfair for them to compete with commercial entities with more financial muscles to bid for scarce land slated for religious use. We believe that not only we are affected by this present situation, all other religious groups, be it Hindu, Christians, Buddhist, Taoist etc will be all affected by URA and HDBs conduct. We empathize with their plight. We will be writing directly to the Minister of Development to reiterate our views and we hope that he could intervene and set it right, not only for us but also for all religious groups in Singapore.
