HELP!!! PLS SHARE..PLS READ.. Good day! I am Loida C. Bauto, 23 yrs. of age, residing at Rodriguez Rizal. People can say that life has been so smooth for me and for my family. By the grace of God I have graduated from the University of Santo Tomas and have passed the October 2012 Licensure Exam for Interior Designers in the Philippines; until before the end of year 2012 when our family business had financial breakdown. I was able to work in a design firm for five months when something happened to me that may change all the days of my life. It was August 7, 2013, I was diagnosed with Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM). A brain AVM is an abnormal connection between arteries and veins. It is usually congenital. On that day, August 7th, I felt very dizzy and had a ringing in my ears, and then my workmates rushed me at the hospital. Even unconscious they told me that I continually vomit. I was in comatose for hours and I woke up in the hospital’s ICU with tube, NGT, IV etc. Days later when I learned that I had AVM. It ruptured and I am now suffering from a stroke. August 28, 2013 – when I had a re-bleed, meaning the same vein ruptured again. So the family and the doctors have decided and agreed that I should undergo surgery. September 4, 2013 – I had an open skull (craniotomy) surgery at St. Luke’s Medical Center. It was successful but not a guarantee that there will be no more AVMs in my brain. My memory is not affected. Everything is still intact. That is one of the things to be thankful for. There is no part of my body that is paralyzed. But the left side of my body and the right side of my face have a partial loss of sensation or numbness, ringing and tingling. The affected parts because of the blood clot on the brain are my vision, speech, swallowing, coordination, control and balance. I have double vision and my right eye doesn’t close fully before. I also have Nystagmus or dancing eye syndrome. But it heals over time. I also have a slow and slurred speech. I talk in a childlike manner and sometimes I stammer. I was discharged from the hospital on September 27, 2013. I spent 50 days confined in the hospital. November 11, 2013 - I was diagnosed with Benign Tracheal Stenosis. Stenosis is a term for the narrowing of the airway. Its cause: when I was twice intubated before. I was confined again in the hospital for six days. December 14, 2013 was my second major surgery done at the Lung Center of the Philippines. They removed four rings in my trachea that causes narrowing or closing of the airway. I am discharged from my third hospitalization on December 21, 2013. To date, I am still unable to walk independently and to regain my balance. I still have problems with my control and coordination. I have slow and shaky voice. And I still have problems with my vision (Double vision, dizziness and Nystagmus) that causes so much difficulty in me during my physical therapy. Recently, I started to have twitching in the right side of my face and in my eyes. I’m also experiencing tremors or involuntary movements on my left arm. Balancing became more difficult for me now. My neurologist and neurosurgeon said that I should have a scan of my brain. The MRI/MRA result is not clear so I have undergone Four-Vessel Cerebral Angiogram last December 17, 2014. Result showed that there’s still an AVM inside of my brain and I needed another procedure. Sadly, as long as the AVM is in my head I have 4% risk yearly of another rupture or bleed. Due to the complicated location of my AVM which is in the brain stem or Pons, the doctors discussed that I should have Gamma Knife Radio surgery. This procedure is non-invasive unlike the open skull surgery done before. This is safe. My doctor recommended having the Gamma Knife at the Philippine Gamma Knife Center in Cardinal Santos Medical Center. They are currently studying my case at the center. It’s a form of strong radiation that targets exactly the AVM without opening the skull. The estimated price for this procedure is 400,000 – 500,000 php.I do not know where else can we ask for assistance. We really have no resources on our own. It’s been a year and a half fighting this sickness. We are on a financial crisis more because of my condition. We can’t deny that we need help, support and prayers. Hopefully I can have the radio surgery this month. After two major surgeries and two major strokes, I was able to survive, fight and live if not for the strength, courage, and help from GOD. Thank you for reading my story. We are hoping for a good response regarding my seeking of assistance. May the Lord Bless u more!
