HMC/Emcon Services are pleased to announce the ‘Kicking Horse Local Car Pass’ – a local’s ticket to local road closures… One of the biggest complaints that we receive during a road closure is local traffic who are simply trying to get home or get to town. Whether they live on Pine Drive, Golden Donald Upper, Anderson Road or ‘in the Blaeberry’, locals are stuck waiting in line and then have to let the traffic control person know that they’re a local in order to carry on. The Local Pass was conceived by Goldenite Ryan Watmough and we thought wed give it a try. Assuming the road is open, locals can put on their hazard lights, advance to the front of the line simply flash the Pass to the Traffic Control Person and they can carry on. Hang the pass on your rear view mirror, keep in your glove box – just keep it handy to help you get around local road closures A REMINDER - the Local Pass is NOT a free pass to disregard the instructions of Traffic Control people. Drivers still must follow the direction of the Traffic Control Person. There will still be times when the road is completely closed and even local traffic can’t get by. Passes can be picked up at the following locations: Golden Visitor Information Center, Chamber of Commerce, DJ’s Paper Place, Kicking Horse Embroidery, Golden Star, Elite Nutrition and Bacchus Books.
