HOW CAN WE FIGHT CORRUPTION WHEN OUR VERY FINGERS ARE IN THE COOKIE JAR How can more than 1 million dollars disappear from an account set up by a committe responsible for raising funds to rebuild One Mile Primary School and when an AFC councillor questioned it and asked for the accounting records to be presented to the statutory meeting of the RDC 10, no records are forthcoming for perusal. Two monthly meetings passed and only excuses are made for the non presentation of the financial records. Then it gets more confusing and complicated when it is revealed that the person doing the accounting of the funds is the same person chosen to do the auditing of same. Now tell me, isnt this downright corruption. The Government of Guyana took over the rebuilding of the school and apparently the fundraising drive was aborted. So where is the money collected?! While the AFC councillor was supported by another councillor representing the APNU on the call for the monies to be accounted for, the meeting broke up because another APNU councillor made a scene about a reference made about so-called gentlemen and women of the RDC being quiet on the issue. I strongly suggest the police be called in and those responsible be arrested and charged. Now I am receiving reliable information that it is several million dollars gone missing. How on Gods earth can we fight the PPP over corruption while our very fingers are deep in the cookie jar.
