HOW SPIDERS CAME TO BE: Arachne was a beautiful seamstress whos weaving were renown in the town she lived in. One day, boasting to a friend, she claimed her weavings were better than even the Gods, particularly Athena. An old woman came her to pleading for her to apologize for the crude statement she had made, You can never compare to any of the gods. Plead for forgiveness and Athena might spare your soul, receiving with only the response of Ha, I only speak the truth and if Athena thinks otherwise then let her come down and challenge me herself. The old woman then transformed into her true form. The Goddess Athena herself clad in vibrant glowing white silk, and challenged Arachne To a sewing challenge. As they proceeded Arachne realized she was deliriously out matched for Athena was pulling clouds from the sky to use as yarn. In her defeat Arachne walked away to a tree where she hung herself. Seeing this, Athena felt sympathetic towards Arachne and placed a finger on her shriveling her body and turning it black. Arachne fell from the tree in her new form, a spider, and is forever forced to weave for all eternity. THERE YA GO, A HISTORY LESSON FOR THE DAY, SO BEFORE YOU KILL A SPIDER REMEMBER.
