HOW TO HANDLE YOUR PROBLEMS Prayer is the channel of communication between our souls and God. God speaks to us through His word; we respond to Him through our prayers, and He always listens to us. We cannot weary or burden Him by our frequent heart to heart communications. Prayer is the key in the hand of faith to unlock heaven’s storehouse where are treasured the boundless resources of omnipotence?” (Steps to Christ, 94, 95). Prayer is that devotion that leads to faith in Gods promises. This faith is the key that opens the divine treasury, is the hand by which we appropriate to our use the richest gifts of God. The prayer of the contrite heart unlocks the treasure house of supplies, and lays hold of omnipotent power. This kind of prayer enables the suppliant to understand what it means to lay hold of the strength of God, and to make peace with him. This kind of prayer causes us to have an influence over those with whom we associate. The prayer of faith is not listless, dry, and uninteresting. It wells up from perfect trust and assurance, and by its fervor makes manifest to the world, to angels, and to men, that you do believe in God, and have made Christ your personal Saviour. Pray is the answer to every problem in life. It puts us in tune with divine wisdom which knows how to adjust everything perfectly. So often we do not pray in certain situations, because from our stand point the outlook is hopeless. But nothing is impossible with God. Nothing is so-entangled that it cannot be remedied; no human relationship is too strained for God to bring about reconciliation and understanding; No habit so deep rooted that it cannot be overcome; no one is so weak that he cannot be strong; no one is so ill that he cannot be healed. No mind is so dull that it cannot be made brilliant. Whatever we need, if we trust God. He will supply it. If anything is causing worry and anxiety, let us stop rehearsing the difficulty and trust God for healing, love and power. But only with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26- (Review and Herald October 7, 1865). DOES GOD ANSWER PRAYER? God wants to answer our prayers and there are countless promises and testimonies in the Bible that can be claimed in that regard. We need to ask with every expectation of getting answers! He will answer prayer-‘the Lord is acquitted with your situation. Nothing escapes His notice. He will hear your prayers; for He is a prayer-hearing and prayer-answering God. Put your trust in Him, and He will certainly bring relief in His own way-(Evangelism, p.392:4.) If you will find voice-‘If you will find voice and time to pray, God will find time and voice to answer.-(My Life Today, p.16:5) PROMISES: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32. …….Whatever gift he promises is in the promise itself. ‘The seed is the word of God. ‘Luke 8:11. As surely as the oak is in the acorn, so surely is the gift of God in His promises. If we receive the promise, we have the gift. ‘…..-(Education, p.253:1-255:1,2) TESTIMONIES: I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. Psalm 116:1-5. And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. 1 Samuel 2:1 WHAT IS POSSIBLE THROUGH PRAYER? Scripture Jer 33: 3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Eph 3: 20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” Mark 11: 24 “Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you will have them.” The Bible also gives conditions for answered prayer. Ignoring them brings delay and silence. Here are some of the factors that help or hinder prayers being answered. Prayerfully consider your life and your prayers in the light of these factors. UNANSWERED PRAYER: NINETEEN HINDERING REASONS. 1. We don’t ask. (Matt. 7:7,8) 2. We havent asked in faith. (Mark 11:24) 3. We are not looking for God’s answer. (Acts 12:13-15) 4. We are not asking in Jesus name. (John 14:13,14; 16:23,24) 5. We haven’t fully surrendered our lives to God. (Mal. 1:14; Rev. 3:20) 6. We are asking for things outside of His will. (1 John 5:14,15) 7. God is waiting for us to accept a greater answer. (1 Sam. 1:9-12) 8. His answer is being delivered in a “rough packing case.” (Gen. 45:3-8; Daniel 3:13-15) 9. We are disobeying God. (1 John 3:22; Ex. 20:8-11; Mal. 3:7-10; Mal. 2:14,15) 10. We must FULLY obey before the answer comes. (1 Kings 18:44; 2 Kings 5:14) 11. We limit God by our half-hearted obedience. (2 Kings 13:18,19) 12. We limit God by our half-hearted prayers. (Dan. 9:3; Matt. 17:21) 13. We are cherishing something that is outside of God’s will. (Isa. 59:1,2) 14. We are forgetting to first “go, then come” so far as forgiveness goes. (Matt. 5:23,24) 15. We are lagging behind God’s directing of our lives. (Luke 9:23; Ps. 119:105) 16. We are seeking a supernatural remedy when a natural remedy—granted a remedy requiring dying to self—is available. (2 Kings 20:7) 17. He is unable to answer at this time (Daniel 10:12-14) 18. It is better that things stay the same (2 Cor. 12:7) 19. The “Prayer Warriors” you are praying with are not in relationship with God and therefore not obtaining answers to prayer. (Mark 9:18) Unanswered Prayer: Turning them into Answered Prayers 1. Look for a promise that you can claim for your situation. (2 Peter 1:4; 2 Cor. 7:1; 1 Cor. 1:20) 2. Find another person, or group of people, that can pray with you locally. (Matt. 18:20) 3. Prayerfully go through the list of hindering factors and ask God to show you if any are present. 4. Prayerfully make an inventory of your life to see if anything needs changing. (2 Chron. 7:14) 5. Prayerfully make any adjustments needed as soon as possible—immediately is best! (Matt. 4:22) 6. Thank Him for answering regardless of circumstances. (Daniel 6:10) 7. Keep praying until He answers. (Dan. 10:2,3; Col. 1:9) 8. Live out your prayer. (2 Sam. 12:13) “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Phil 4:6. A PRAYER: Our heavenly Father, thou art King of glory. We come at the foot of the cross in filthy rags unworthy of your mercy and grace, repenting of our sins, accepting the gift of life through your Son that you have sent to cleanse and create in us a new heart and contrite spirit. Remove from us the things that are besetting us from wholly serving Thee. We are claiming your promises in your word that we abide in Thee and that we have life more abundantly in good health and strength. Lord, we affirm your word over our life and have faith that you are a God of order and your word never returns void. We give you praise and honor Lord for you are a God that exalts your word, over your name we trust that your will is a plan that you have for us. Bless us to stay in firm prayers and supplication as we surrender in hope and faith daily. Bless us to part from our sinful ways and be glad to be separated from them. We give you honor and praise as we forgive and love one another. We beseech you in the name of your Son and Redeemer Jesus Christ, amen.
