Had a great day with Abby, the kids, and the inlaws. We went to the Mountain View Ranch corn maze in rural Ramona on a perfect day. My mother in law Marla was courteous enough to give me break from driving and drove Abby and I there, following the kids and the fathers in law. We passed near signs for San Ysabel Campground where Dave Mustaines elderly mother in law wandered off from recently and has yet to be found. I told Marla to behave herself on this trip of she might just wander off and not be found, as happened to Megadeths mother in law. She behaved. Once there, the kids had a blast. They got to meet all kinds of barnyard animals, from buffalos to pigs to goats. Riley pet each one, as did I, but ?Twee was, for once, not as fearless. Philip almost got gored by a bull last time we were here and I noticed he stayed back from the buffalos thick horns this time. Riley shot two cobs out of a corn cannon (yeah, you read that right) as daddy shouted Git R Dun!. We attempted the corn maze, and though the kids had fun chasing and throwing discarded ears at each other, I saw both Abby and Marla pocket a couple, almost ruining the trip for all of us. You could probably cook this already; its so ripe. Abby tells me happily. I want to tell her to stop stealing corn everywhere we go but its gone on too long to even know to begin to approach it. Marla I expect that from, this scandalous corn thievery. Its where my wife gets it. The maze ends too soon, and we head to get the kids to ride horses. Riley seems unimpressed and again Violet protests anything to do with it. We buy some pumpkins and Abby gives me an ear of corn to put in my pocket. Now Im an accessory. The dog was there from last time, the Jack Russell that would fetch rocks you threw no matter where you threw them. I was glad to see her there, but there were too many people here this time to just go hucking rocks. I take a selfie in front of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre house that also looked, like much of Ramona did, like some of the places in Oklahoma I lived near when I was a kid. We take off for downtown Ramona, for the Ramona Cafe we ate at last time we were here, when Abby was still preggos with Fifi. The 1/2 lb cinnamon roll here was featured on some reality show recently, something they advertised no end. It was a fun day, and I want to make it a yearly tradition for our family. Except for the corn thievery.
