Had a paranoid home owner come out taking pics of our boat with out trying to have a conversation with us first, while we were fishing dock lights last night. Kind of ticked me off a little but at the same time, I understand why he is paranoid. If the guy like that has had problems with theft, I can understand his proactive approach to security, however his actions felt exactly like an accusation. The odd thing is that I could see him there on his porch from across the bayou before I even headed in his direction with lights on, on the motor planed out. I never got closer than 15 yards or so. I watch him go in to his house and come back out. I see a flash, but thought, maybe he has a trail cam or something. Then he sulks through the shadows, but I can still see him there. Then after about 20 casts he walks out on his dock and with this huge camera and says something about seeing if our lights work and he take a few pictures of us and checks his exposures and walks back in slowly. Now, I dont know if he was trying to let us know that he was aware of us, or what. Owning a house on the water front on a navigable water way has to be a bit weird. It surely has the feeling like folks are in your back yard or casing the place for theft, or worse peeping, as those people in your backyard can often see right in to your house. So, I understand his point and I get his idea of taking pictures of boaters, but his passive aggressive actions are what ticked me off. Had he just can out and talked to us he could have accomplished what he was after with out coming off as a D-bag. He is with in rights. I was with in mine. I guess we both made the other uncomfortable. Both I reckon are expressions of our constitutional freedoms.
