Had a very real conversation with my son this afternoon, well it was more like a Sit your ass down, shut the hell up and listen sessions. He is struggling with his confidence on something and he said to me,Im not ready. I know exactly what it is like to be presented with a golden opportunity and shy away. What I have learned from my own mistakes is this, there is no hour on the clock, no day in the week that says READY. When ever you step into a new element there is confusion, chaos, frustration. Life, parenthood, love all of it...is on the job training. I have been on my job for twelve years, since day one I hated it. Hated the politics, hated the bullshit, hated working in extreme temperatures and I especially hated never knowing when I was going to go home. So I made, an escape, some freedom. Hate fueled my purpose and my passion. Recently one of my coworkers came up to me and asked me What are you doing? Do you know what are walking away from? Are you ready? To answer her, No I dont always know what I am doing, No I may not be completely ready and hell yes I know what I am walking away from..Misery. As long as I can wipe my own ass, pay my own bills, how I move is none of your concern. I have seen people rot away and become miserable because they were too scared to step out on faith. Im not saying you should say Eff it all and not take care of your responsibilities. What I am saying is MAKE YOU A PLAN. It may or may not work but at least you can say you banged it out trying. There is no Ready pill. You get it how you can get it or you lay down and stop trying.
