Had my first swim today at Hanmer Mere, Nr Ellesmere. It was just beautiful, but I think may have some blue green algae. Im not sure as Ive not come across it before. There are the obligatory signs up warning of it, but at the very edge of the lake was a layer of dense, greenery (looked a bit like a paint spill, which I know is sometimes cited) and the water was very bitty with floating green algae of some sort. I swam anyway- no ones died of one exposure and I didnt swallow much!! But I wondered if anyone had any definitive pictures of it. I know not all lager is an issue and that its particularly problematic when its in bloom, but from the bank, the lake itself (ignoring the margins) looked clear. No sign of opaqueness.
