Had to go to Kansas City today to pick up a trailer load of stuff. The guy assured me that the weather would be fine. I said ok, but was coming early to get loaded early....long story short, finally got loaded and headed southbound at 4:00 pm. In freezing rain on black ice covered roads...Went past a 22 car wreck with injuries, cars in the ditch, cars sliding off and hitting walls. Had a yellow cab two cars in front of me do a 360, slide into the left lane and hit the center divider..Fortunately, we all were only going around 15 mph. Saw a semi truck thaat hit a snow plow. The giant tow truck that was trying to get them untangled and out of the center median was spinning and sliding. Later, while doing 35 mph, my horse trailer decided it wanted to pass me while it was hooked up.. It tried to go past on the left side, then the right side. I kept it blocked by using both lanes and both shoulders, and a little of the grassy center median. Patsy, who had the good sense to stay home, asked what was going through my mind while this was happening. Was I thinking that I was going to get hurt or die? I told her that the thought I had was that I needed to remember to bring a spare set of underwear the next time I did this. I told her that I had my seatbelt on, but really did not need it.I puckered up so much,that even if the vehicle rolled over, my butt was hanging on to the seat. It took me almost three hours to drive 90 miles. But as I got further south, the roads cleared up, so I am home safe and sound :-)
