Haha somehow my childhood education was just totally questioned [edited, flipped would be an overstatement] in some way... namely about Satanism :D Thanks Alexander for getting me into a part of the internet that I never sought before. Basically, growing up in Austria, I thought Satanists sacrifice hamsters and eat babies and have some inherently evil intentions in disrupting peace or causing harm to others. Now, reading through the websites of two (comparatively small but seemingly dominant within modern Satanic communities) organizations, the picture is a totally different one - Check out churchofsatan/frequently-asked-questions.php and thesatanictemple/ Both websites of said organizations basically sound like a party of the Enlightenment movement philosophers signed on to reddit and made posts about atheism and ethics, and just happen to sprinkle Satan, Baphomet and Hail Satan into the text. Interestingly enough, the German Wikipedia article is a slight bit more conservative than the English one, but both essentially agree that the knowledge I took with me from my Childhood about Satanism is far from the modern definition or understanding. Very interesting, politically and religiously loaded subject - but if we dont talk about things, progress never happens. Can someone give me deeper insight? Are these really just a bunch of Atheists who like dark outfits and goat heads, or is the rationalism just a farce to get down my guard and then eat my babies?
