Hairstylist To Appear in Court For Murder A 29-year-old hairstylist, Abigail Emmanuel, detained by the police on suspicion of murder is soon to appear in a Federal Capital Territory High Courtin. The prosecuting counsel, Peter Egele, made an oral request seeking for the permission to arraign Emmanuel. After a while his request was granted by Justice Abubakar Umar. He also directed that the accused should be remanded in police custody pending arraignment. The application was brought in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code and rule of the Criminal Procedure Act. It says the follwing, “My lord, in support of the application, we filed an eight paragraph affidavit which was deposed to by Cpl. Umar Mohammed of the state C.I.D, FCT Police Command. My lord, we also attached a one-count charge of culpable homicide, prove of evidence, list of exhibits, list of witnesses and their addresses as well as the statement of the accused.” In his ruling, Umar said after a careful consideration of the application, he was satisfied that it had strong merit.
