Hand woven pink silk Ikat necklace with Dhokra copper beads sewn - TopicsExpress

Hand woven pink silk Ikat necklace with Dhokra copper beads sewn in and long tassels with hand woven thread beads that can hang on the side or behind, when you wear a sari or dress. The tassels also have copper beads sewn in, forming a flower bud pattern. The highlight of this necklace are the hand painted Pattachithra* pendants of different sizes encased in silver, sewn on to the silk Ikat necklace. *Pattachitra of Orissa is a term used for a style of wall painting, manuscript painting, palm-leaf etching, and painting on cloth, both cotton and silk. The name comes from ‘patta’: dried palm leaf or pieces of cloth on which these paintings are made. The subject matter of the patachitras includes religious, mythological, and folk themes, with Krishna and Lord Jagannath being important motifs.
