Happy Columbus Day everyone! Heres an idea: Why dont we celebrate today in a way that actively DISHONORS the unjust events that founded it? Instead of discovering things that were already there or taking things that dont belong to us, how about we go forth to day and GIVE GIVE GIVE to all those we see in need? Lets GIVE our wealth to those poor &/or homeless ... Lets GIVE our time to those stressed &/or lonely ... Lets GIVE our Kindness to those depressed &/or downtrodden. Lets show Columbus what SHOULD have happened back in the day, and lets show our current leaders what SHOULD be happening today. Whos with me? Though an accomplished enough mariner, Columbus was not terribly good at a great deal else, especially geography, the skill that would seem most vital in an explorer. It would be hard to name any figure in history who has achieved more lasting fame with less competence. He spent large parts of eight years bouncing around Caribbean islands and coastal South America convinced that he was in the heart of the Orient and that Japan and China were at the edge of every sunset.
