Happy Independence Good Morning my fellow Vincentians... Happy Independence. Let those of who truly love our country be grateful today for our many blessings. We have a peaceful country where we can walk free. Many people throughout the world do not have that luxury. There are poor children in places like Syria and Palestine where bombs are dropping on their heads daily and smashing their little bodies into minced meat. This is not the case in Vincy. Many of us ancestry is linked to a West Africa where people, right now are dying in masses from EBOLA. You and me could have been included in that number. However, through no luck of our own, we were fortunate to be born in Vincy. So today let us be happy for life, for good friends, for faithful loved ones and most of all for our free and mostly peaceful nation. We do not have it all. Some of us may be hungry, but that should not stop us from loving our country. As Lydia Pope told me recently no one will starve in this country. She said that because she knows that there is always something to eat, whether it is a roast breadfruit, a mango or a banana. So let us, for today, tune out the naysayer and greet each other with Happy Independence.
