Happy New Year Friends! I hope you are getting your lists in order and ready to get started. A few notes to make things easier: 1. This should be fun. If you arent having a little bit of fun, find a better way. 2. If you need to modify your lists after the first week, go for it. This is a challenge, but more importantly a learning experience. 3. This group is not to inform from a nutritional or medical perspective. We arent qualified. We are qualified to support each other and talk about our own experiences and what we are learning. 4. We all have different dietary food preferences and restrictions. Im a vegetarian, you might be gluten-free, and so on and so on. This is for everyone! 5. Break the rules. If you want to count veggies as one item do it. The only reason I dont do that is that I know from experience that I wont eat ALL the veggies, and then Ill get frustrated and eat a cookie. ;) Instead if I focus on a few healthy veggies, Ill eat more of them. When its summer here and more veggies are in season, I might expand my list. 6. Last but not least ... this is not all about food. While Im excited to eliminate most sugar and processed foods, I am even more looking forward to the time that will be freed up not thinking about what to buy, what to cook, and what to eat and the money will will save not eating out as much or eating the treats.
