Happy New Years! Its been a while since we last reached out to the community with hopes to try to get Nexuiz back off the ground and running. As some of you may know, at IllFonic weve been very busy with multiple projects, from our work on the multiplayer modes for Sonic Boom (WiiU), with Obsidian on Armored Warfare, our work designing and implementing the FPS Mechanics for Star Citizen, our new ip Revival - and various other projects soon to be announced. When we released Nexuiz, we were a small group of guys (12). Now our company has grown to around 50 people. Unfortunately, after Nexuiz most of the developers either departed from IllFonic or were staffed to work on other projects. Because of this, finding a way to get Nexuiz back off the ground has been extremely difficult. The *only* issues that are keeping Nexuiz from being released again on PC is fixing an issue that you guys probably all noticed where the servers would say the servers are currently unavailable. Unfortunately, the fix for this is not simple or easy and requires a heavy rework on the database. Our plans for 2015 is to get this fixed as we investigate an agnostic database system to work across all of our internal projects, using Nexuiz as a test bed. With our re-release of Nexuiz, we will be giving all current owners a free copy. We are trying to figure out a way to verify XBox 360 owners to give them a free PC copy as well. As you can imagine, with THQ shutting down, all of our access to that information was lost. We will hopefully have more news and the Nexuiz website back up and operational soon. We finally have a web-site admin at IllFonic to help us get things back online. We still love playing the game on LAN, and want to really get it back out there (we just recently jumped back in the code and even got bots working over the network in a day). In the meantime, LAN gameplay should be working for you if you run Nexuiz Beta on your steam library. If the game crashes, you need to change the DirectX version to 9 in dxmode.cfg (in the root folder of Nexuiz in your steam directory under steamapps/common/nexuiz) - change r_Driver=DX10 to r_Driver=DX9 and save. In the mean time, Kedhrin has released a game design document from Nexuiz for those that are curious. It is one of many of our documents for the Nexuiz Game design about Dynamic Mutators. You can find it here: https://docs.google/document/d/1TYzYmLHpRCO-vcmgIGl9kzmFO0WQo60b4ooEAEfmpXE/edit?usp=sharing Please make sure to check out Revival at revivalgame too!
