Happy Norooz (Persian New Year) In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Persian New Year Celebration, or Norooz, begins on the first day of spring, usually March 20th of each year. Norooz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts - the End and Rebirth. The celebration dates back to about 3000 years ago, and is deeply rooted in the rituals and traditions of the Zoroastrians of the Sassanian period. Some of the traditional activities during Norooz are spring cleaning, buying new cloths, painting eggs, family reunion, giving presents, visiting neighbours and friends and celebrating by having a picnic on the 13th day of spring. Norooz in Persian means New Day and brings hope, peace and prosperity to the world. I wish you all a very happy Norooz! :)
