Happy posthumous birthday to Earl Scruggs from the Flint Hill - TopicsExpress

Happy posthumous birthday to Earl Scruggs from the Flint Hill community of North Carolina, who gave us todays song of the day along with his guitar playing partner, Lester Flatt. Earl developed a three finger style of banjo picking that became the standard of bluegrass music. This song is, of course, the Beverly Hillbillies theme song that was heard on television every week and is known by heart to millions. It went to number one on the country charts in 1962 and even made it up to number 44 on the Billboard top 100. Sadly, Earl died of natural causes in 2012 at the age of 88. The bluegrass legend would have been 90 today.
