Happy womens day From the heart of man By Alfred Ernest Pate Sr., PoetryPoem/realitiesinlife I write to the woman’s world, the mother of mankind. Civilization at birth in, your lap, did itself find. Man’s first security was Found against your loving breast After his first toil In your lap did rest His first word, first step, You help him find his feet It’s also been said His heaven lies beneath your feet You ask for equal rights Don’t you already know? You already have more Then you need, than you know In the beginning, when Ego was high and youth in the high gear I would forget sometime To me, you were, how dear Its true sometimes frustrated, hurt and bruised, I take it out on you At a moment of weakness, of passion, I forget that its you You my better half, You, without who, I can’t do For the roses and the smiles I can’t repay you. No man can be a mother, I am sometimes jealous, too That at one call, All my children stand up beside you. Now on reaching mid point, Of age, of life, of time. While walking out of the door My daughter calls from behind Daddy please kiss me I stop; I have to spare the time Who cares if I’m late? I can’t leave love behind That little kiss will last Till toil can be left behind And I can run home Your little arms and love to find I sometimes blast and punish you But my heart is clear I want to make you a good little girl a darling, a dear The next woman who counts My sister Mona, I am talking to you A pat on the back, a praise means a lot, when from you. There are a few other women To whom I owe a lot too I hope these words can convey My love and respect for you. So women of this world Do not yourself degrade No matter what man gives or You grab, God created you great Civilization will always in your lap, Nourishment and self esteem find And man knows to who he owes it all Each time he looks behind.
