Have been hearing a lot of people using qualifiers when talking about the Presidency of John Kennedy - he accepted responsibility for the Bay of Pigs fiasco after he had been sand bagged by the CIA to go ahead with that ill-conceived plan upon arriving in the White House; - he established the Peace Corps just as he said he would; - he faced down fellow politicans, diplomats, executives while working simultanious channels to resolved the Cuban Missle Crises without going to WWIII; - he ESTABLISHED the program to land a man on the moon by the end of the decade AND WE DID; - began paving the way for Lyndon Johnson to enact (with a lot of arm twisting and his little black book) the Civil Rights Law; - he terminated the requirement that men wear hats everywhere - we wore them only when it was really cold after he led the say; - he and his entourage established a new Chic in clothing - Ceasar Romero and Petrocelli suits et al; - he dealt with the press in public press conferences in the most highly intelligent manner anyone had ever seen up to that point; - all in all, John F. Kennedy was a role models role model - he gave us the motivation to aspire to greater things and we did. He sure as hell made me feel better about myself and the world up until the day he died.
