Have you ever asked why painters paint landscapes? Eric Paul, this is a poem by Ray Strong. Remember it? In any case, that poem, struck me years ago as I intentionally blurred my teaching world within the classroom, with the rich vibrant, and natural world outside the classroom (schools can be very unnatural places, by the way). And within that seeming blurred space, clarity began to emerge. Fast-forward those foundational ideas of reaching, naming, making sense of the diverse cultural landscapes within and outside of school, became the fertile space out of which the Cultural Landscapes Collaboratory emerged.
