Have you ever considered the darkness and state of psychosis - TopicsExpress

Have you ever considered the darkness and state of psychosis interwoven in the song "Flowers on the Wall? Have you considered that a gospel group that went country broke out with that song in 1966; a song that was SO VERY DIFFERENT than traditional country western music prevalent during that time? The Statler Bros. group was truly made up of geniuses who were unafraid of breaking the mold and taking that musical genre to another level - like Johnny Cash with his male introspection/transparency/vulnerability and socio-political commentary songs, or Roger Miller with a stand up bass jazz swing arrangement that Dave Brubeck would love in "King of the Road"! What happened to innovation and the art of creative story telling in country music? I think it started to decline when "western" was dropped from the category heading.
