Have you ever made your own vinegar? I rarely use vinegar in cooking (with the exception of basalmic), preferring citrus juices instead. But I do use both ACV and white distilled for household and personal care (cleaning the house, conditioning hair, skin toner, etc). Although old news, I learned today from a friend that white vinegar is often started not by a true mother (bacterial culture) but by a petroleum product, rendering cheap white vinegar to be not as green a product as it seems. Heres basic instructions to make your own. Grab a mother from a friend who makes vinegar or from a bottle of raw vinegar like Braggs. Could be a fun science experiment for the kids or just for you! :)
