Have you ever noticed that so-called Biblical archaelogists very often start from the assumption that the Bible was made up pretty much whole cloth. I blame Joseph Campbell. Ive also noticed that the ones most eager to deny that an Israelite people even exist are the German archaelogists. If archaeologists were to look at the crap we leave lying around a thousand years from now theyd likely assume we worshiped the Force and that Luke Skywalker was our mythical king. As they assured us until recently that there was never a real King David, theyll likely assure us in a thousand years (if we havent gone home to heaven by then) that there was no real Ronald Reagan. How preposterous, a great ruler who started out as an actor!
