Having seen the two sides of a coin for saying yes to almost - TopicsExpress

Having seen the two sides of a coin for saying yes to almost everything in the last one year, l have come into logical conclusion that when one develops a reputation for being responsive and generous, an ever-expanding mountain of requests will come ones way. Wouldnt it be a relief for me to feel confident enough to simply say no when someone asks me to take on yet another task or commit to another event? Often, the Nigerianess in me makes me do just the opposite, for fear of hurting my reputation and branding myself as selfish and rude. Reading what famous billionaire US investor,Warren Buffet, once said about this, really gives me a sign of relief on how to approach it better. Buffet said that the difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say no to almost everything. I agree with Buffets. Before, l felt that every no may be a missed opportunity to make a difference, build and nurture relationships. However, l think l am wrong because saying no can free me up to saying yes when it matters most.
