He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. -Psalm - TopicsExpress

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. -Psalm 147:3 (ESV) Thoughts on Today’s Verse There is a lovely little chorus we used to sing many years ago that would give the same sort of comfort as the words of this beautiful verse – for we have a good and wonderful God, and He truly is able to heal the broken-hearted and to bind up the wounds of one that is destitute : He is able, He is able I know my Lord is able – I know my Lord is able to carry me through, He is able, He is able I know my Lord is able – I know my Lord is able to carry me through, He heals the broken hearted – He sets the captive free, He makes the lame to walk again – and He makes the blind to see, He is able, He is able I know my Lord is able – I know my Lord is able to carry me through. Often when difficulties happen or when problems rise up in life we need to turn our hearts to the comforting words of Scripture – we need to grab a promise and hold on to that promise knowing that we have a wonderful and faithful God, Who has promised to be with us in all the twists and turns of life – He has committed to be our sufficiency in all situations. There is a wonderful rest that the Lord can give to those that are His, in the midst of the troubles that lifewhich seem to shower over our heads or that try to bury us in the depths of depression – we need to rest in the trust that we have in our Saviour – we need to Faith-Rest. Resting in the faith that we have in the Lord – abiding in the arms of our God. But how can you and I ‘Faith-Rest’ when our lives are shattered and the brokenness of our heart is haemorrhaging… Well, we simply need to remember that the Word of God is life and health – His word is true and trustworthy – His word is perfect and pure – and His promises to us endure from one generation to another. And God has promised to heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds. What He has done for others He will do for you – Let us trust in His love and rest in His Word and believe the truth of God’s Word, which tells us that He heals the broken-hearted and binds up our wounds – and He is able because He went to the cross, on our account – and shed His blood to became our substitute. Let us hold on to the truth that our Saviour suffered for us so that He was able to both heal our hearts and bind up our wounds – because His grace is sufficient.
