He trains my hands for battle, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. (Ps 18:34) What God is training here is your hands. There are other places where he trains your minds or hearts, but here it is your hands. In other words, he is training us to do something; it may be to fight in a battle, it may be to heal wounds, it may be to build a church, or it may be something as simple as singing in the praise team. Regardless of the venue or the skill, this is the “to do” part of the Christian life. And this is where we find obedience; this is where we live obedience. And I just realized something. I don’t think God drops us into the deep end of obedience, and then says “Just to do it”. No, I think He has trained us to be obedient. The question is, have we been paying attention?
