Heads up, Indigo Shire says there is blue-green algae at Lake King, Rutherglen. Routine water sampling revealed the presence of the algae. Results from water sampling early this month has shown a range of algae including non-toxigenic blue-green algae in Lake King at Rutherglen. As the numbers are sufficient to constitute a health hazard Council has erected warning signs at Lake King. Warning signs have now been posted at three locations around Lake King — at the Caravan park entrance, the pier and also at the Rutherglen Golf Club end of the Lake. The lake should not be used for drinking, swimming, fishing or other activities requiring contact with the water, during the outbreak. People should also restrict access of animals to the water. Indigo Shire hopes that sampling later this month will show an improvement in water quality.
