Heart Failure Drug: Heart failure incidence is on the rise, usual patient have irremedial heart disorder, or end result of ihd already having undergone various interventions. Short of heart transplant, medical treatment is the only option. Current medication are generic ace/arb. Heart failure is associated with excessive stimulation of sympathorenal axis leading to production of angiotension and neprilysin, the latter is a MME, metalo membrane endopetidase. While ace inhibitor is effective in nullifying adverse effects of angiotensin, the endopeptidase remain unchecked. Novartis has come out with LCZ696, which is a neprilysin inhibitor but acts on both angiotensin and nephrilysin. In the recently published paradigm HF trial, there was 20% reduction in composite end points, and 20% reduction in hospitalization. The study was a head to head comparison of lcz696with ace inhibitor enalapril widely used in heart failure.
