Heaven: Restoration. In other posts I pointed out that the Jewish people looked forward to a restored Eden. This is what they pictured. Consider this: If Gods plan was merely to take mankind to the present Heaven, or only to a dwelling place for spirit beings then there would be no need for new heavens and a new Earth. Why refashion the stars in Heaven or the continents on Earth? God could destroy all of it and put it behind and create new life, without using us, or making a new dwelling place for us. Yet, that is not what he is doing. This universe is His creation and He still claims it. He didnt choose to abandoned it. Instead he will restore it. We wont go to Heaven and leave Earth behind. Rather, God will bring Heaven and Earth together with no wall of separation. All of it will be under one head; Christ. (Isaiah 66:22) For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. (2 Peter 3:13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth , wherein dwelleth righteousness. ( Revelation 21:1) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. Gods redemptive plan did not stop at restoring us through Christ. He restores our dwelling place too. The Greek words with ana- or an- prefix, means the same as our re-. These words mean to fix back to the original So when you read the following words think about it: Restore, Redeem, Recover, Return, Renew, Regenerate, and ressurect.
