Heaven, to me, would be a place with tranquil tropical beaches, and scarcely clad exotic women. A place painted in bright colours, the air filled with the heady perfume of spices, sweet ripe fruit ready to be picked off the trees, and fish almost swimming onto your plate. And yet, out of all possible destinations on this planet, my brother is heading for the South Pole to climb a mountain. Average temperatures below -25°C, snow an absolute certainty, survival rate zero without four layers of clothing, and food limited to supplies dug into the ice. Cool? I suppose so.
