Heb. 5:1: "For every high priest taken from among men is appointed - TopicsExpress

Heb. 5:1: "For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts & sacrifices for sins." The qualifications of the high priest were designed to meet both the physical & spiritual needs of the people & of God. Heb. 5:2-3 goes on to note that "[the high priest] can have compassion on those who are ignorant & going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness." Thus, a man born in sin could yet be appointed to be holy unto God. However, with Christ, we have the perfect man & an even more perfect High Priest who had no sins, petitions on our behalf, & serves as our gift & sacrifice for sin to God. (A.R.S.)
