Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and wsin which clings so closely, and xlet us run ywith endurance the race that is zset before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, awho for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising bthe shame, and cis seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Long distance runners work hard to build endurance and strength. On race day, the clothes they wear are lighter in weight and their bodies are leaner. To run the race God has set before us, we must also strip off the excess weight that slows us down. We need to choose friends that are committed to the race. Wrong friends will have values and activities that are different and will drag you off course. We need to drop activities in our lives that weigh us down, the Christian life involves hard work. It requires us to give up whatever Endangers our relationship with God, to run with endurance, and to struggle against sin with the power of the Holy Spirit. We must keep our eyes constantly on Jesus in-order to run and live effectively.
