Hei-Guan and LuLu ,which come from the far north, are rare residents in Taiwan. In the spring of 2007, they met each other accidentally in Chao-Sheng garden. Hei-Guan won LuLu’s heart by using courtship songs and dances. Therefore, they decided to settle down and built their own nest of love. Finally and successfully, they had the result of love, three eggs. In the period of Hei-Guan’s brooding, a Gray Treepie, Endemic Subspecies, came to the nest. Male and female Gray Treepies attacked Hei-Guan violently and constantly. At that time, Hei-Guan was in a great danger; however, fortunately, LuLu came back to their nest in time. On May 4th, three herons were born smoothly. Nevertheless, the drought pushed these three baby herons to the edge of death. Fortunately, the plum rains saved their lives. A lot of earthworms, the main food of herons, came out from the ground and the abundant food rescued the baby herons from the edge of death.
