Hello Ravens! So, Ive been a student at Carleton for five - TopicsExpress

Hello Ravens! So, Ive been a student at Carleton for five years now and in that time I have witnessed a tremendous growth in our campus clubs and societies. I - unlike some of our younger students - remember the days when booking tables in the atrium was an easy task. Now clubs need to plan months ahead of time to find a spot amongst their fellow organizations. This is just a small example of how many active and passionate Carleton clubs exist on our campus - and within these passionate clubs, passionate students. Our over 250 clubs and societies consists of everything from table top gaming to dance teams. As President of a club this past year I have seen first hand how far the current clubs and societies funding can go - and how far it can not go. Carletons first IMPACT Gala, an event to highlight the hard work and success of our campus most engaged charitable and not for profit clubs, was only possible by combining the funding of two organizations and seeking sponsorship from 4 university departments. An increase in clubs and societies funding would allow all of our campus clubs to bring their activities to the next level. Whether that is competing against other schools or fundraising for charitable causes. The referendum questions youll all be asked to vote on tomorrow and Thursday to increase in the clubs and societies levy by $3.30 - a reasonably small amount for each Carleton student - will go much further than the coffee run you would more than likely spend that $3.00 on next year. It will break down a lot of the barriers clubs and societies face in reaching their individual goals and it will facilitate a better experience for all students and the Carleton community as a whole. I encourage everyone to do their research and make an educated decision on all of the referenda questions! As for me I know I will Vote Yes for Clubs and Societies! Remember, its your school. Even if you disagree, have your voice heard. VOTE! All the info you need can be found here: students.carleton.ca/undergraduate-referendum/
