Hello, again! Recently, Ive been doing research on what should a good superhero wear? As in realistically. Ive got two story ideas floating around, one of an interstellar monster hunter, and another of an alien girl with severe amnesia. The second one in particular made me think what would these people wear if they decided to give themselves a costume that 1) Protects them 2) Protects their identity and 3) Will allow them to move and fight practically. So I figured thats what Id write about today. Most of the stuff I read refers specifically to female superheroes, who are notorious of objectifying outfits these days, but many of the same rules apply to male supers. cracked/article_18591_the-5-most-impractical-aspects-superhero-costumes.html This article has excerpts from Superhero cosplayer Ruby Rocket, who has (indirectly) provided the writer of what NOT to fight crime in. Heels, Capes, ect. and is the only satisfying article I found that isnt crawling with flamers. forums.spacebattles/threads/lets-make-a-practical-superhero-costume.224910/ Heres a forum discussion that, even though its far more thorough, there are some people on there who are a bit troll-ish. But the point I find very important is that the best costume for a hero relies on your heros skillset. With my conclusions in hand, Ive come up with costumes that support both my heroes. For my male hero, with generic fighting and illusionary skills, Ive come up with a look similar to Jaune Arc (Due to my incompetence, a Google Image search is recommended... Ironically, his show contains some pretty ludicrous battle gear as well), with the armored top for protection, yet flexible leg pieces to enhance his speed. Although my main hero fighting monsters as a profession, identity protection isnt as important to him, leaving him without much of a mask... So, my identity-driven female hero had to get a little more creative. For my superfast + resilient female hero (whose costume is supposed to be made from readily available materials), Ive put together knee-length running shorts and a tank over a tighter long-sleeved getup, with a full-facial mask, made easier to put on over CROPPED hair. When hidden, she wears a coat, and clips her mask inside-out to the back to look like a hood. So, thats what my research has given, and I thought some sharing would be cool. Id like to hear your thoughts. ~Ironman
