Hello everyone. I just wanted to talk to you about our Artists Alley again because there has been some goings in the background that I wanted to make you aware of. One of Otafests core values is transparency and sharing information is how we live up to it. A few weeks ago we had a little situation on our hands concerning our Artists Alley. We give our artists the opportunity to purchase a full table or a half table depending on their needs. We assume our artists want a half table unless they request otherwise. Unfortunately we didnt make the process of how to request a full table clear. This meant that many artists didnt get the table size they needed. Understandably, some of the artists were disappointed about the situation. When youre putting together an event like Otafest, mistakes are bound to happen. So many people are involved in running a convention that occasionally things get overlooked. This was one of those situations. One thing weve become famous for is finding a way to turn a bad situation into something amazing. We assured our artists that we would do our best to try to make it right. In a few days, we have managed to do just that. As we cant just magically give everyone full tables in the space we had, we decided to expand our new artists alley space into the North Courtyard of MacEwan Students Center, doubling the space that we previously had. This ensured that the artists who wanted a full table could get their table. This also allowed us to tap into our wait list and allow them to get a table as well. Our new expanded artists alley is sold out which is great for everyone involved. With the largest alley in our events history, our patrons will be able to enjoy a expanded selection to browse and purchase. The best part of working with Otafest is the opportunity to surprise and delight our patrons. Without you, Otafest would not be what it is today and that is why your feedback is so important to us. We recognize that all of you care about Otafest as much as we do and your feedback is what drives us to make our convention better. Thank you to our artists alley, vendor and internal teams for putting together this solution. Without their desire and drive to do the right thing for our patrons and artists, this could not have happened.
