Hello from the town of Winifredea, province of La Pampa, central Argentina where we will complete interviews and filming for 9-13 October of families with Black Sea German & and Mennonite German ancestry from South Russia (today southern Ukraine). The landscape looks much like the central Dakotas with large fields of wheat planted for harvesting in December which is summertime in Argentina. Here are large pastures with beef cattle and I do not see any rock piles in the fields or pastures. On 8 October at the village of San Jose, we filmed at 5 am at an historic Volga German bakery making their fresh breads in the old oven. Then we traveled to the farmstead of Juan Hippener for an interview in Spanish about his life as a farmer and agriculture of his parents and grandparents. Juan has extensive farmland as well as beef cattle, sheep, goats, and hogs. His equipment is primarily John Deere and Massey Ferguson.
