Hello members, We have a whole slew of events coming up, which you are all invited to! Next Saturday we have an Introduction to R2P Workshop, where we will be exploring what R2P is from a theoretical and practical perspective. Lunch provided. Come along to learn more- you never know if some extra info might come in handy for essays =) On Wednesday April 9th, our campaign on Women, Peace and Security will be launched by the fantastic Campaign Manager Harriet Smith at 4pm- so come along and learn more about what WPS is and what we are doing about it. Ive also heard there will be a well-known guest joining the launch to chat about WPS. Location TBC. At 6pm, on the same Wednesday, well be introducing Hotel Rwanda at the Polsis Film Series. Join us to watch the film as we remember the 20th anniversary of the genocide and discuss responsibilities, the role of media in genocide and other issues afterwards. Then on April 12th, R2PSC and UNSA Mini-MUN: Yemen and Disarmament. This MUN will give delegates a chance to learn about how the UN system works, as well as using diplomacy skills to create and (attempt to) pass a resolution on disarmament in Yemen. Lunch provided, so just bring your game face and be ready to defend your countrys position. Itll be a great way to learn about how MUNs work before BrizMUN in late April. Speaking of BrizMUN, if any R2PSC members want to go but have financial constraints, email r2pstudentcoalition@gmail as we may have a few options for helping you out. Congrats to Xanthe Wallace and Sunny Van den Berg who won the R2PSC Market Day draw of fully paid Brizmun registration. We look forward to seeing as many R2PSC members there as possible! We also realise that many of our members cant make it to our events. The Committee has therefore been putting a lot of energy into some exciting new online projects that will be rolling out soon, so keep an eye out for them!
