Here are a few more pictures from yesterdays leadership development exercise with the nations best high school quarterbacks---and 6 current college QBs like Everret Golson of Notre Dame & Bryce Petty of Baylor. Of the past 9 QBs who won the Heisman trophy, 8 were Elite 11 finalists. We challenged them, and they responded: --We had these young men carry American flags on their run and ruck---and spoke about why the flag has so much meaning, and should never touch the ground. We had them earn their American flag. --We talked to them about leadership and inspired them with our experiences. Pretty straight forward when you have Eagles like CSM (Ret) Todd Burnett who spent 60 months deployed since 9/11, with 26 IED strikes against his vehicles. --They had to figure out how to build a sand bunker (fill, tie, move each bag 75 meters up hill and then construct the bunker). --When it got dark, we held a raft race....but they had no paddles and had to figure out how to cover 250 meters in the water together. --We ran them through a peer evaluation process and discussed the importance of moral courage. And that like confidence (as taught by Michael Gervais), moral courage can be taught. --And we closed the night with a WOD with Warriors #21GUNS workout. That included 20 Eagles from the PDX and Seattle chapters. ESPNU and ESPN2 will air a documentary about the camp, so youll be able to see more then. It was an honor for Team Red, White & Blue to be there and to share our passion for leadership---and live out the #EagleEthos for these young leaders to observe.
