Here are the minutes of the student council meeting on Friday the 20th of September. Happy Peace day everyone! Matters arising (from last meeting): 1. Ibìuna Project: Mr Rodolffi will elaborate on this matter – There will be two visits this term, the first at the end of October. The SC will continue to organise the project and work closer to these dates. Ongoing. 2. Tree Planting – A campaign is currently being organised and will be launched soon, to raise money for the Oikos NGO and for our trip there. Ongoing. 3. Projeto Teto – a representative will come and speak in a meeting in the near future. Ongoing. 4. Boys toilets are unhygienic and in bad conditions. In order to keep the bathroom in an acceptable state, regular checks should take place. – We will talk to Mr Eagles about this issue, to be discussed further. 5. The lines in the Tuck-Shop are, once again, too long. More tuck-shop´s should be built in order to decrease the lines. - Feipe Lyrio and Beatrice spoke to Mr. Haygarth he will look into the issue. 6. Lunch Menus are misleading, proper menus should be displayed in the bulletin. – The school says this issue will be fixed by this week. Tutor ideas (suggested this week): 1- Students would like the tuck-shop to be opened before school – Pedro Camargo, Martin Garland and Chris Hudson will talk with Mr Thody – Marcia had agreed to this last year. A meeting with Mr Thody has been organised as he is currently not in school. 2- Vending machines should be placed around the tuck-shop area in order to decrease lines in the actual tuck-shop. In these vending machines, small snacks should be available such as M&M´s etc. – Lucas Bender will look into this and having more express carts 3- Wi-Fi in various locations around the school is faulty, especially in the Portuguese and English and Arts block. – The ICT department has ordered 14 new industrial class routers, and is going to upgrade our network to have signal throughout the whole school. This should be fixed in a week`s time. 4- Sinks in the Art Room are clogging. – Beatrice McMahon will look into this. 5- Projector in Mr Walkers room –ICT has bought and will soon install a number of new projectors, one of them will be installed in this room. This should be fixed in a week`s time. 6- Lockers should be organised by year groups – yr 7 have bottom lockers, yr 8 middle, yr 9 top (for the small lockers since 10-12 have big ones). This enables for better organisation when using the lockers and establishes a standardised, fair system for all year groups. – Beatrice McMahon will talk to Mr Haygarth about this. 7- Student should have tuckshop cards, with barcodes, and personal identification, where parents could pay at the begining of each month, an amount which would be added to this card. Students could then have this balance and would use it throughout the month, and it could be recharged. This gives parents control over the amount spent. This should also be registered in a computer system in case the student loses the card.- This issue will be taken to the Action Committee by André Amaral and Mr B, was also brought up in the Junior SC. 8- IB students would like the priviledge to use the synthetic field during Break and Lunch. Thais will talk to Mr Moss about this.
